In other words, I've been doing a crapload of work. lol XD.

CalArts has been very cool so far, but completely exhausting. Like, to the point where I'm going to fall over ><. All well though, its been fun as hell. So far my animations have included Zoetropes, Flipbooks, Cycles, and now we're on Abstraction. Tomorrow we start with puppet animation.

Abstract animation is really new for me O_o... and I have to say I'm not enjoying it that much, but its a learning experience. I've been drawing like hell in addition to all the animation, and made comic profiles for each of my comice. I even got bored with drawing dogs for once, and started drawing people. I made a character sheet for Jay Darkhart and Brooke Sangloup. Crazy right? XD. The craziest part is that I actually like them. O___O.

So, in addition to ALL of that, we have screenings to watch everyday, guest speakers, and life drawing classes. Life drawing isn't my favorite thing either; its fun at first, but when you get passed your second hour it gets annoying. That said, I guess its a good practice... just not my thing.... at all. ><.

So, the screenings have been awesome. I've watched some really interesting ones, and some really amazing classic ones like Gumby and Felix the Cat *hums Felix's themesong*. The class favorite of these films has been a music video about ducks, and 'an old north american story' or something like that. I'll find the links later and put them in a journal for you all to see. My personal favorite was Felix, cuz he got drunk and stuff.

Oh, and my teachers are really talented. They get to showcase some of the work they've done, and one of them is a stop motion animator that works on Robot Chicken (i think he helped create that one actually xD) and Moral Oral.

The guest artists are amazing too. I met John Mahoney, a guy that worked on about 10 disney films, and is talented on like... every aspect. He now works at Lucas Studios. He was extremely inspirational, and I reccomend you check out his work if you havent at his website: [link]

Yesterday we also met one of the people who helped make Coraline. That was amazing as well. He showed us a lot of the early concept art... and it was just... EPIC ON A STICK! xD.

And well, the last thing I will say about CalArts for now is that on saturday I will be taking part in the 24 hour animation challenge. Basically, i'm in the basement of the school (which they call The Palace) animating something with my group from 6pm to 6am. Yeah. It's gonna be amazing.

and then the next day I go to see SPAMALOT~! 8D.
